Mary Ebert
Mary Tucker Ebert, born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, received a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Loyola University of New Orleans in 1965 and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, in 1967. In that same year she married Ronald Ebert and this union produced two children, Kristen born in 1969 and Matthew born in 1971. In 1969 the Eberts moved to Seattle, Washington, where Ron assumed the position of professor of business at Washington University.
In 1973 the Ebert family moved again to Columbia where Ron accepted a professorship in the School of Business and remained as such until his retirement in 2003. In the 70’s, Mary worked as a part-time accountant and financial assistant to Mary Jane Davis at the Nora Stewart Memorial Nursery School. In 1981 she and a partner conceived the idea of a retail business offering handmade crafts from professional artisans throughout the United States. The business, POPPY, became a success and after almost 23 years, she retired from the partnership to spend more time with her husband and grandchildren.
Mary is a volunteer for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mid-Missouri where she served as a member and president of the board. Presently, she is co-chair of the committee to build a new Ronald McDonald House.
