About Our New House

It's well known that Columbia's Ronald McDonald House, the staff and volunteers are available 365 days a year to welcome and care for hurting families. For children undergoing treatment as outpatients and families of hospitalized children, our House provides stability through the rhythm of daily life.

While our House has provided shelter for many years, it has long been outgrown and outdated. The House is not handicap accessible, has no elevator and has small bedrooms with shared bathrooms. The University of Missouri's move of their Children's Hospital means our guest families are no longer next to their hospitalized children. And after severe water damage in the summer of 2010, the current House is down to nine bedrooms where it once offered 14.

The new Ronald McDonald House will have large bedrooms with private bathrooms, an elevator, accessible services, rooms equipped for immuno-suppressed patients, technology that will allow parents to telecommute to work and multiple other amenities to meet more specific medical needs. The House will be located on land once again donated by the University of Missouri and will be just a short walk from Children's Hospital, the Thompson Center, and several other medical centers.

Our efforts to build a new Ronald McDonald House is the most exciting event since the opening of the original House more than 28 years ago. Your donation is needed so that construction can be completed. Please help us by donating now.
